Driving Eyeglasses for a clear and safer journey

When it comes to vision and driving, the usual problems drivers encounters are blurring of vision, poor contrast, and glare from incoming vehicles, especially at night. Luckily, there are eyeglass lenses in the Philippine market that are specifically indicated to be used for driving. These are the Zeiss Drivesafe, Hoya EnRoute, and Essilor Crizal Driving coating.

  1. Zeiss Drivesafe

Zeiss, a leader in freeform design when it comes to eyeglasses, developed their version of driving lenses called the Zeiss Drivesafe.

According to Zeiss, this lens design incorporates a technology that improves specific problems usually experienced during driving, including its ability to reduce glare, improve contrast, and better visibility of objects, especially in low-light conditions.

The Zeiss DriveSafe comes in a Single-vision lens design for thoseneedonly need their prescription when looking at it.

The lens also comes in a Progressive Lens design for people who need both far and near prescription. Unlike other progressive lens design, Zeiss made their mid-distance zone 43% larger, so that the user can experience easier switching from dashboard to side mirrors. They also made the far-distance portion 14% larger for a wider view of the road.

2. Hoya EnRoute

Hoya Enroute is Hoya’s high-performing driving solution. Hoya, famous for their tough HVLL lens coating and Trivex material, developed a driving lens that could also ease up drivers' experience, especially in low-light situations.

The technology is called Enroute, and some of the benefits of Hoya Enroute are Glare reduction, Clear Vision at all distances, and EnRoute dedicated Progressive Lens. Unlike their regular progressive lenses, the lenses also improved the visual field of the driver when looking at the road, while still maintaining the near and intermediate correction like for example, when looking at the dashboard.

The EnRoute lens can be upgraded into the EnRoute Pro, where aside from getting all the benefits of the EnRoute lens, they add a special contrast-enhancing filter that improves color perception and offers next-level glare reduction.
