Bringing Better Vision Options to Our Patients (Trifocal and EDOF)

At Soliman Paroli, we are always looking for ways to improve your vision after cataract surgery. Recently, our doctors and nurses met with Qure Corp during our regular Round Table Discussion to explore their newest intraocular lenses (IOLs) and how they fit into our patients' lives.

Choosing the right lens is a personal decision based on your daily habits. Here is a simple breakdown of the Vistazo and Optima lenses we reviewed.

Trifocal Lenses: Vistazo Trifocal & Optima Trifocal EF

Think of a trifocal lens like having three different pairs of glasses built into one tiny implant.

  • How it works: It focuses light to give you clear vision at three specific distances: near (reading a menu), intermediate (working on a computer), and far (driving or watching a show).

  • The main benefit: This is the best option if your primary goal is to live completely free from glasses for almost all of your daily activities.

EDOF Lenses: Vistazo EDOF & Optima EDOF

EDOF stands for "Extended Depth of Focus." Instead of splitting light into three distinct points, imagine a smooth, continuous zone of clear vision.

  • How it works: It provides seamless, clear sight from arm's length (like checking your car dashboard or a computer screen) all the way out to the horizon.

  • The main benefit: While you might still need light reading glasses for tiny print, EDOF lenses are much less likely to cause halos or glare around lights at night. They are an excellent choice for frequent night drivers.

Hands-On Practice for Precision Care

Learning about new technology is only the first step; mastering it in the operating room is what matters most.

The Qure Corp presentation concluded with a practical "wet lab." Our surgeons and nurses practiced loading and unfolding the Vistazo and Optima lenses in a simulated surgical environment. By training together on the exact equipment we use in real procedures, our entire clinical team ensures your cataract surgery is safe, smooth, and highly predictable.
